Skowhegan Savings to Host Business Workshop Series for Women
SKOWHEGAN, Maine – Skowhegan Savings will host a series of three workshops organized by the Maine Women’s Business Center Empowerment Program and Coastal Enterprises, Incorporated (CEI). The workshops are geared toward women who have been in business for at least six months and want to boost their financial confidence and skills.
CEI and this workshop series was a recent beneficiary of donations made by Skowhegan Savings to support economic development and financial literacy in the communities it serves.
The workshops will take place over a six week time span beginning March 16, 2010 and cover a range of financial topics. Each workshop costs $25.00 and will be presented in two parts. Workshop times are 7:30 - 9:00 am on the dates indicated below and will be held at the Skowhegan Savings Training Center on Pleasant Street in Skowhegan.
The workshops are as follows:
- Conquering Business Money Management, March 16 and March 23, 2010
This workshop offers an opportunity to explore how your approach to money matters can either help or hamper the success of your business. Part One, (March 16), will address some money myths and the importance of debunking them for business management. Part Two, (March 23) will look at separating business and personal finances, determining credit worthiness, and providing valuable tips for changing behaviors around business money.
- Pricing For What You Are Worth, March 30 and April 6, 2010
In this workshop, participants will have a chance to learn about pricing formulas and techniques to apply when determining your price. We will explore ways of using pricing strategy to enhance your business success. Part One (March 30) will explore some different ways people approach pricing and strategies for determining value and price. Part Two (April 6) will apply the material from Part One to help with business issues from participants.
- When It Makes Sense to Borrow, April 13 and April 20, 2010
In this workshop, we explore the right time to borrow money for your business and how to go about it. Topics include assessing your business financial needs, key things lenders look for, some hints on filling out a loan application, the application process, and some resources. Part One (April 13) will look at whether to borrow or not, and some types of loans. Part Two (April 20) features a loan officer from Skowhegan Savings who will co-present to review the loan application process and what a lender looks for.
